The Last Flight of Icarus

The Greek Myth of Icarus tells of Daedalus who made a pair of wings for himself and his son out of feathers and wax in order to escape Crete, and the Labyrinth in which he was imprisoned at the hands of King Minos. Before their flight, he warned his son Icarus not to fly too close to the sea because the feathers would dampen, and not to fly too close to the sun because the wax would melt. But Icarus became overwhelmed with the sublime feeling that flying gave him, and decided to try to reach the sun, until his wings melted and he fell into the sea.
In later times, the myth was read more philosophically, linking Icarus analogically to artists, poets, and heroic audacity.

This loop pendant features a shimmering lampworked glass bead at the center which has both silver and gold accents, with a peachy pink base and little speckles of rose gold under a layer of clear glass which gives it depth and shine. It is surrounded by glass beads of peachy pink hues and silver and gold accents.
The loop is double-strung with strong nylon coated wire and hanging from a tan satin cord which closes with a lobster-claw clasp that has a teeny starfish charm accent. The necklace also looks great on a black cord - just let me know in Notes to Seller when purchasing if you want it in a color different from what is shown here.

This necklace is designed to be strong enough to be used as a Nursing Necklace.
NOTE: Necklaces are usually modeled on a short cord-length. Please specify desired length when ordering.
